NEW DELHI, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Indian police Wednesday claimed to have arrested one of its most-wanted terrorists who carried a reward of 20,000 U.S. dollars on his head.

Officials said that Aariz Khan, alias Junaid, a member of home-grown terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, was nabbed by a special team of Delhi Police from the India-Nepal border.

"It's a big catch as Khan had been absconding since 2008," P.S. Kushwaha, deputy commissioner of Delhi Police, told the media.

Khan, wanted in several terror attacks cases, was on the run after his escape during an encounter at a residential building in Delhi, along with some fellow terrorists, in 2008.

The dreaded gunfight, known as Batla House encounter, took place six days after serial bomb blasts rocked Delhi, claiming the lives of at least 30 people.

During the encounter, cops had gunned down two Indian Mujahideen terrorists but also lost one of its men, inspector Mohan Chand Sharma.
