NAIROBI, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kenya will send two athletes in table tennis to this year's Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia on April 4-15.

Veteran women player Sejal Thakkar and youngster Brian Mutua qualified to represent Kenya at the forthcoming Africa Top 16 and Commonwealth Games.

The two emerged the winners during the one-day national trials in Nairobi on Sunday.

The ITTF Africa Top 16 Championship will be held at Nairobi's from March 1-3 while the Commonwealth Games will take place in Gold Coast, Australia.

While Sejal Thakkar will be making her fourth appearance at the Commonwealth Games after representing the country in Singapore, Glasgow, Delhi and Melbourne, Mutua will be making his debut in Gold Coast after making his debut for Kenya in the ITTF Africa Eastern region Championship in Port Louis' in Mauritius last December.

"I didn't expect to make it given the nature of the competition. It's a big privilege for me to represent the country at the top level once again," said Sejal.
