YANGON, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Some 3,300 civilians, who were trapped in conflict zones in Myanmar's northern state of Kachin, have been rescued and sent back home by the military, Myanmar News Agency reported Monday.

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA), one of the non-ceasefire signatories to Myanmar government's Nationwide Cease fire Accord (NCA), were attacking the regional military headquarters and some security camps in the Kachin state over the past week.

Injuries have been reported as dozens of the armed militants fired with small arms and heavy guns about 2,300 meters away from the military headquarters in Moekaung township in Myitgyina.

The firing occurred on a daily basis between Wednesday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, conflicts were also reported between the military and the ethnic armed group in Sumprabum, Waingmaw and Tanai townships in the same state over the same period, trapping over 150 other civilians in Tanai but they have also been rescued and sent back home by the military, reports said.
