      Customs receives 1st batch of Philippine food to China's import expo

      SHANGHAI, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) - A container full of dried fruits from the Philippines arrived at Wusong Port, Shanghai, making it the first batch of foreign foods to reach China for the upcoming import expo, according to Shanghai Customs Thursday.

      Dried fruits including mangoes, bananas and durians from 15 Filipino companies were shipped to China, serving as a testimony of the extensive attention small- and medium-sized enterprises overseas paid to China's International Import Expo (CIIE), scheduled for Nov. 5-10 in Shanghai.

      To prevent biological invasion and better facilitate the imports, Shanghai Customs has taken several measures including customs clearance solutions according to specific countries and regions, drafting negative lists for market access, and cooperating with local agricultural and forestry experts.

      More than 2,800 companies from over 130 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in CIIE, the first of its kind to be held in China. The expo is expected to inject vitality in China's more inclusive and accessible market.
