DHAKA, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh security forces Wednesday morning resumed their operation to storm the second militant hideout under siege in the country's Narsingdi district since Monday night.

Bangladesh's Counter-Terrorism Police Unit Chief Monirul Islam told media that the operation to flash out the second militant hideout in the district, east of the capital Dhaka's northeastern region, began again Wednesday morning with additional forces.

He said law enforcers have called on the suspected militants in cordon to surrender, but they refused to come out so far.

He said they have learned that the militants have stockpiled a large cache of explosives in their den.

Security forces surrounded two buildings in two separate places in the district since Monday night.

After the first operation on Tuesday, Islam said the bodies of two militants including that of a woman have been found at the hideout.

He said the suspected members of the Neo-JMB(Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh), an offshoot of the banned militant outfit JMB who died during Tuesday's operation had contact with the militants hiding in the second hideout.

He said three to four suspected militants may be hiding in the second cordoned house.

In the wake of the deadly cafe attack on July 1, 2016, Bangladesh has conducted a series of large-scale operations against militants.

Neo-JMB, an offshoot of JMB, has been blamed for the attack on the Holey Artisan Bakery, in which 22 people, mostly foreigners, were killed.
