BRASILIA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's right-wing presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro maintains the lead over his rival leftist Fernando Haddad in an election poll of voter intentions for Sunday's run-off, a poll showed on Monday.

According to the poll conducted by the MDA institute at the request of the National Confederation of Transport, 48.8 percent of voters intend to vote for Bolsonaro of the Social Liberal Party.

In comparison, 36.7 percent intend to vote for the left-wing Worker's Party candidate, Haddad, while 11 percent will spoil their votes and a further 3.5 percent are undecided.

The Brazilians will choose their president on Sunday in the second round run-off, bringing an end to the country's most polarized presidential election of recent times.

The poll also reported that 51.4 percent of voters would not vote for Haddad, while 31.2 percent said that he is the only candidate they would vote for.

Meanwhile, 42.7 percent say they would not vote for Bolsonaro and 41.5 percent say he is the only candidate they would choose.

A majority of 74.4 percent of the interviewees believed that Bolsonaro will win the election in comparison to only 14.6 percent believed that Haddad will gain victory.

The MDA institute interviewed 2,002 people in 137 municipalities across the country between Oct. 20 and 21, and the survey has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
