BISHKEK, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday launched a weeklong campaign to raise public awareness and to fight against diabetes.
A march will be held in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek as part of Diabetes Week. Sports and recreational activities for children with diabetes, a flash mob for the elderly, a themed photo exhibition, a round table that discusses "diabetes in Kyrgyzstan" will also be organized.
More than 55 thousand diabetics were registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2017, according to official data. The prevalence of diabetes in Kyrgyzstan among people aged 20-79 will increase to 5.8 percent in 2025, the International Diabetes Federation forecasted.
