SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) agreed to continue talks on aviation cooperation after holding the first-ever dialogue on cooperation in the aviation sector Friday, local media reported, citing Seoul's transport ministry.

The first-ever working-level talks on the inter-Korean aviation cooperation was held at the joint inter-Korean liaison office at the DPRK's border town of Kaesong.

The five-member South Korean delegation was headed by Son Myung-soo, a senior official of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The DPRK delegation was led by Ri Yong Son, deputy director-general of the General Administration of Civil Aviation.

During the talks, the DPRK side proposed connecting air routes along the eastern and western waters of the Korean Peninsula, according to the Seoul ministry.

The South Korean side said, in response, that the two sides would continue to discuss the issue through further dialogues in the future. The Seoul ministry did not provide details on what was discussed.

The two sides also agreed to continue to discuss the overall inter-Korean aviation cooperation.
