CAIRO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Egypt's non-oil exports reached 2.04 billion U.S. dollars by the end of January, a statement by the country's General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) said Monday.
Non-oil manufacturing exports amounted to 1.61 billion dollars during the same month, while food exports registered 432 million dollars, according to the statement.
The Egyptian exports to Arab countries amounted to 747 million dollars, followed by those to EU (637 million dollars), the United States (131 million dollars), Africa (117 million dollars).
Egypt's economy has been battered by years of turmoil following the 2011 popular uprising that toppled former President Hosni Mubarak.
However, the country has recently been showing signs of economic improvement amid strict economic reforms including tax hikes and energy subsidy cuts recommended by the International Monetary Fund that supports Egypt's economic reform plan with a 12-billion-dollar loan.
