BEIJING, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Exit and entry ports nationwide will make sure Chinese travelers finish customs clearance in 30 minutes during the upcoming holiday season, China's National Immigration Administration (NIA) announced Thursday.

The three-day Tomb-sweeping Day holiday, an occasion for Chinese to return hometown and pay tribute to ancestors, is expected to see daily trips averaging 1.99 million through exit and entry ports nationwide, up 5.4 percent year on year, according to NIA estimation.

Ports that link the Chinese mainland with Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan will witness much heavier traffic, it said.

The NIA asked border inspection stations across the country to ensure sufficient personnel and disclose relevant information in a timely manner to properly handle the holiday travel surge.

It also recommended that passengers prepare travel documents and avoid traveling at rush periods if possible.

The Tomb-sweeping Day falls on April 5 this year.
