BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key technology news from the past week:

      5G BASE STATIONS

Beijing has built 4,300 5G base stations in the city's urban core areas and iconic buildings, the Beijing Youth Daily reported Tuesday.

As of the end of May, the capital city has launched pre-commercial 5G services in the administrative areas for Beijing's sub-center, the new airport, the International Horticultural Exhibition, test venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics, Tiananmen Square and the main artery, Chang'an Avenue.

      WILDLIFE PROTECTION BY 3D SURVEY

Chinese researchers are using a new visualized survey to monitor and conserve biodiversity in the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, a UNESCO world heritage site in southwest China.

The new method, dubbed 3D-map-based interview survey, is an effective tool to collect local knowledge on biological information over large areas that is followed by field investigation and data analysis. Interviewees could point out the location of the rare wild animals they had observed.

      CANCER DETECTION DEVICE

A China-developed cutting-edge cancer detection device, which integrates positron emission tomography (PET) scans and CT scans, has been approved by national drug regulators and obtained market access earlier this month.

The equipment was developed by scientists from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology based in Wuhan, Hubei Province, after a 19-year study.

BLUE BOOKS ON ELECTRONIC INFORMATION ENGINEERING

China has released a series of blue books on the country's electronic information engineering development and research, according to China Science Daily on Friday.

The books include four volumes concerning integrated circuits, deep learning, industrial Internet and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), said the newspaper. Enditem
