LOS ANGELES, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles will continue to encourage public-private partnerships to enhance cybersecurity and innovation technologies to boost information sharing to combat cyberattacks, said experts on Thursday.

Jacob Finn, policy director for cybersecurity at the Office of Public Safety for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, told Xinhua that the city should beef up cybersecurity measures and rules in preparation for those major international events, and raise awareness of cybersecurity.

U.S. experts and government officials in the field of cybersecurity joined a seminar here for collaborated efforts to better prevent from, detect and address cyber threats.

The seminar, entitled Strengthening Security Posture Through Partnerships, focused on the innovation partnerships that local and federal governments, as well as private sectors in Southern California, have pioneered to ensure those critical assets, such as data, infrastructure, services and transportation, remain secure.

Jim Featherstone, president and CEO of Los Angeles Homeland Security Advisory Council, said the Port of Long Beach, the second-busiest container port in the United States, had been hit by cyberattacks which severely disrupted the critical supply chain.

Public-private partnerships and information sharing are vital to identify, address and recover from any cyber crisis, Featherstone said.
