TOKYO, July 12 (Xinhua) -- All transactions and services have been suspended by cryptocurrency exchange operator BITPoint Japan, the firm said Friday, after it found that 3.5 billion yen (about 32 million U.S. dollars) had been stolen a night earlier.

According to the firm, 2.5 billion yen (about 23 million U.S. dollars) went missing from customers' accounts and a further 1 billion yen (9.23 million U.S. dollars) was believed to have been stolen from the company's deposit accounts.

BITPoint Japan Co. said it noticed the funds had gone missing at just before 11:00 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Thursday.

The company apologized for the disruption caused to its customers, saying that any damages caused would be compensated.

The five different kinds of cryptocurrency handled by BITPoint Japan are: bitcoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum, litecoin and ripple.
