YANGON, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has planned to hold ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) food festival-2019 in Mandalay region later this month, an official said on Wednesday.
"The festival will feature culinary delicacies and cuisines from ASEAN countries as well as from China, Japan and India," Director of Hotels and Tourism Ministry U Zayar Myo Aung told Xinhua.
Over 110 booths including food counters and souvenirs which represent ASEAN countries will be exhibited at the festival, scheduled to be held at Mandalay Convention Center (MCC) on Aug. 17-18.
Under the theme "The authentic flavor of the east," the festival aims to promote traditional delicacies of ASEAN countries as well as to boost friendship between Myanmar and ASEAN countries and to attract tourist arrivals in Myanmar.
The ASEAN food festival-2019 will be organized by Myanmar Restaurant Association and supported by Hotels and Tourism Ministry and Mandalay region government.
