LUSAKA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu says he will not meet officials from India's Vedanta Resources while on his three-day state visit to India, a statement issued by his office late Tuesday said.

Lungu is in India on a three-day state visit at the invitation of his counterpart Ram Nath Kovind.

On Tuesday, the Indian mining giant said it will meet with Lungu while on his visit for further discussions on its disputed Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) unit in Zambia.

The mining firm has been locked in a dispute with the Zambian government since May this year when authorities appointed a liquidator to run KCM, after accusing the Indian firm of breaching terms of its license.

But the Zambian leader's office said he will not be meeting Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal or his representatives, according to a release.

It added that his schedule while in India does not include meeting officials from the mining firm although he revealed that he will meet representatives from 12 Zambian based Indian firms which do not include KCM.

The government, according to the release, will follow the wish of the Zambian people over the KCM issue.
