SHENYANG, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 238-year-old imperial ancestral temple has reopened during the weeklong National Day holiday after repairs, attracting tourists.

The imperial ancestral temple, or literally translated as Taimiao in Chinese, is near the Shenyang Imperial Palace of the early Qing Dynasty in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The temple, built in 1781, has been listed as a key project approved by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. The repair of the temple's compound took half a year. Eighty citizens were invited to have a hands-on experience of the traditional craft in the renovation.

An exhibition on the Taimiao history began as the temple's compound was reopened to the public Saturday upon completion of the repairing work.

First built in 1625, the Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang was included in the world heritage list as an extension to the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in 2004.
